StudioSTL A to Z Party

StudioSTL Mission:

StudioSTL is dedicated to helping kids build their writing skills. We believe writing is an indispensable life tool and that great success can be made with one-on-one attention. Our programs are offered free of charge to all kids, ages 6 to 18, and are designed to captivate both reluctant and super-motivated writers. We offer after-school writing, field trips, workshops, summer camp, and publishing possibilities that help kids embrace their inner super-star. Our programs are held at our writing studio in Grand Center, which we have designed – with the area’s best and brightest – as a creative place to nurture self-expression.

For this writing themed event fauxto-booths made a large “sheet” of notebook paper as the backdrop and an oversized pencil prop. To view the entire photo gallery from the A to Z party click here.

The A to Z party was a blast and a successful fund raising opportunity for the fabulous program that is StudioSTL. A raffle was held including gifts that ranged from local favorites such as Pudd’nHead Books to goodies from the nationally celebrated Kate Spade. The party was hosted by and held in the backyard of Jeff York and Cheree Berry of whimsical stationery fame. Delicious pizza was provided by Pi. Drinks were furnished by Major Brands, the largest distributor of premium wines and spirits that remains Missouri owned and GreenBar Collective, which represents the world’s largest portfolio of organic, handcrafted spirits.

Special thanks to the A to Z committee: Cheree Berry, Megan Chaney, Chad Michael George, Beth Ketcher, Rachel Lockhart Korris, Chad Lawson, Jermal Seward and Jeff York.

Eric & Kaitlyn Get Hitched!

This September wedding took place in beautiful Columbia, Missouri. The ceremony was held outdoors at Flat Branch Park. It started earlier than planned because of the threat of rain. Post ceremony there was a wedding party “parade” to the reception space at Orr Street Studios. If you’re planning an event in the Columbia area this is a great place to throw a party. Mary Kroening, the director of Orr Street Studios was super helpful. Thanks Mary! For a link to the full gallery of fauxto-booth pictures from the reception click here.

The inspiration for the set, a found postcard.

Eric and Kaitlyn ‘s custom fauxto-booth set featured a hand-painted drop cloth and tandem bike, inspired by the above postcard entitled “Great Full Day” which tied nicely into their bicycle theme! Check out their really nice Save the date card (some were spoke cards) and Invitations done by Patrick Ferguson. Get in touch with him for some great custom print design.

North St. Francois County Class of 2000, 10 year Reunion. Set by Fauxto-Booths.com, special thanks to H. Lindsy Donahue for help with the fan faces.

Since I was the primary organizer of my 10 year class reunion, I couldn’t throw a party without a fauxto-booth present! For this set I put up some theatrical red velvet curtains and scanned my classmates senior pictures (Thanks H.L.) to make large fans of their faces from 10 years ago. The fan faces were given to the guests as party favors, which proved to be an immensely popular party prop that extended beyond the frame of the fauxto-booth. Attendees had a great time poking fun at their stylistic differences, since some guests had made major changes to their look since high school. Either way they held their fans with pride. Let’s do it again in another ten!

Below is a portion of the flyer I made for the event.

I would also like to send extra special thanks to my friends and family that made this event possible.

THANKS!

National Record Store Day 2010 at APOP Records

Sure: Deals galore on great records, amazing free stuff, and awesome bands from near and far (mostly near, the way we like it!) punctuated the inside of APOP Records on 17 April (also known as National Record Store Day 2010), but those privileged many knew the real party was outside in APOP’s backyard space, complete with an AllSauce-laden barbecue and of course a Fauxto-Booth. An homage to traveling carnival knife-throwers’ displays of prowess, and complete with giant target and bronze throwing knives, our Fauxto-Booth captured over a thousand moments from throughout the day. Friend (and Fauxto-Booth featuree) Josh Levi wrote up the event for the RFT here. Masks and oversized machine gun prop seen in the pictures here are property of featured performing act Half Gay, whose Michael Stasny also helped in construction of the target set.
